Newer cars need factory procedures. Aluminum panels, high-strength steel and driver-assistance sensors (ADAS) call for specific tools and calibration after a repair. Some manufacturers require certified repair to keep certain warranties — check your warranty booklet.

Do I have to use a certified body shop?

No — you can choose any shop. A manufacturer-certified shop follows the carmaker’s repair procedures, which matters most for newer, aluminum or ADAS-equipped vehicles.

What is I-CAR Gold Class?

I-CAR Gold Class is an industry recognition for collision shops whose technicians keep up ongoing, role-relevant training. It is separate from manufacturer certifications.
